Hockey Unveils 2024-25 Schedule

A home series against Big Ten opponent Michigan State, match-ups against in-state foes Clarkson, RPI and St. Lawrence and a challenging conference slate highlight the 2024-25 Canisius hockey schedule, head coach Trevor Large announced on Wednesday.

The 34-game regular season schedule features a total of 16 home games and 18 road dates. The Golden Griffins will play eight non-conference games and 26 league games in the recently rebranded Atlantic Hockey America.

Canisius opens its eighth season under Large with a visit to North County for contests against ECAC Hockey opponents Clarkson (Oct. 5) and St. Lawrence (Oct. 6).

The Griffs open the home portion of their schedule with a seven-game homestand that kicks off with a non-conference series against RPI (Oct. 11-12) and continues with their AHA debut against longtime rival Mercyhurst (Oct. 22).

Big Ten foe Michigan State makes its first trip to LECOM Harborcenter to close out the October slate (Oct. 25-26).

After wrapping up the homestand with a home AHA series versus Army (Nov. 1-2), the Griffs embark on a five-game road swing that will see them play league series at Air Force (Nov. 8-9) and Mercyhurst (Nov. 22-23) as well as a single game at defending AHA regular season and postseason champion RIT (Dec. 3).

Canisius completes the fall semester with a pair of home league series, welcoming Sacred Heart (Dec. 6-7) and Robert Morris (Dec. 14-15) to LECOM Harborcenter.

After its traditional end-of-semester break, Canisius returns to action with a home AHA series against RIT (Jan. 10-11).

A mid-week contest at Robert Morris (Jan. 14) serves as the start of a seven-game road swing that will also see Canisius close out their non-conference slate with a series at Penn State (Jan. 17-18) before returning its focus to conference play with series at AIC (Jan. 24-25) and Holy Cross (Jan. 31-Feb. 1).

The Griffs play their final three home games of the regular season in early February, welcoming Air Force to LECOM Harborcenter for a pair of games (Feb. 7-8) before opening its season series against Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara with a midweek matchup (Feb. 11).

Canisius closes out the regular season with a four-game road swing, starting with a trip to Bentley (Feb. 14-15) and finishing with a two-game set at Niagara (Feb. 21-22).

The 2025 AHA Postseason will once again feature all 11 teams. As with last year's championship, all rounds of the tournament will be held at on-campus facilities.

The top five teams at the end of the regular season will receive a first-round bye, while the other six teams will square off in a trio of single-elimination contests on March 1.

The winners of the three first-round matchups will join the top-five seeds for a best-of-three quarterfinal round (March 7-9). A pair of best-of-three semifinal series will be held the following weekend (March 14-16) before a single-elimination championship game will take place at the highest-remaining seed (March. 22). The winner of that contest will receive the league's automatic berth in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Season and single-game ticket information for the 2024-25 season will be made available to the public in the coming weeks.
