Women's Lacrosse Reveals Incoming Class to 2024 Roster

Canisius women's lacrosse head coach Russell Allen announced the addition of 12 new Golden Griffins to the roster for the 2024 season on Wednesday.

"I'm thrilled about the group that our coaching staff brought in" Allen said. "They're not just talented athletes but they're great people who understand what it means to play like a Griff. It has been truly special to see the way our returners have welcomed the new players and set the tone in terms of what the expectations are in this program. The season is very young but I couldn't be more excited for this group's potential."

Comments from Allen on the 12 newcomers can be found below.

Victoria Gottorff
"With Victoria we bring in a player who has a wealth of experience to our attack. She was a two-time all-conference player at Mercyhurst who has proven to be a threat both as a scorer and feeder at the collegiate level."

Maddie Fitzgerald
"Maddie's play embodies what it means to be a gritty Griff. Within the first few minutes of watching her play in the recruiting process, we knew she would be an incredible fit for our program. As a two-way midfielder, I think she will make a major impact for us with her hustle plays, IQ and intensity."

Ashlyn Dhandwar
"Ashlyn is a do-it-all midfielder who trained with Team BC under former Griff Ashley Bull, one of the best to wear the Blue and Gold. Ashlyn can take the draw and has potential to be a contributor in our clearing game with her smart decision making. Her athleticism is off the charts and she approaches all that she does with a level of professionalism that is rare for a freshman."

Lauren Matyka
"Lauren comes in with a very accomplished resume. She played at a nationally ranked high school program and was an impact player who helped her team achieve three catholic league titles at St. Anthony's. Lauren never backs down from a challenge and will push herself as well as everyone around her to be their best with the passion that she brings every day."

Harper Weatherdon
"Harper has exceptional speed and a motor that never quits. Her pace and relentless effort make her a very difficult matchup for any attacker. Harper is a kid you love to coach, as she does everything asked of her with maximum effort."

Lily Koslowski
"Lily is a local student-athlete from the Buffalo area who can add a dynamic punch to our offense. She was a high school All-American and set the Grand Island High School record for goals in a career. I began coaching Lily when she was about six years old, so it is special to work with her now at the collegiate level."

Megan Previdi
"Megan has phenomenal vision and a natural ability to thread the needle that will add an exciting dimension to our offense. She set her high school record for assists in a career as well as assists in a game and we are looking forward to seeing what she can do at the collegiate level."

Olivia Licardi
"Liv started in cage for an exceptional high school program at Morristown that she helped guide to a New Jersey State Championship during her junior year. She comes in experienced and tested against some of the best high school programs in the country. She brings an upbeat disposition and desire to learn that will fit in perfectly with our goalie unit."

Bridget Brown
"Bridget is smart on and off the field and her high lacrosse IQ helps her read defenses and be able to pick them apart. Bridget comes from a military family and it shows in her work ethic. She never settles for anything but her best on the field."

Cam Geising
"Cam is another local athlete who represents Buffalo lacrosse very well. It is impossible to have a bad day when Cam is around and her effervescent personality inspires everyone to keep a positive mindset."

MJ Renaud
"MJ has very impressive background in box lacrosse that translates well when she needs to handle the ball in tight spaces. She also has an extremely powerful step-down shot that can help open things up for us when we are facing zone defenses."

Mya Zeller
"Mya has height and an ability to catch and shoot from her off-ball movement that correlates well with what we do offensively. Her positive energy will help keep us grounded in challenging moments."

Canisius returns 59 percent of its scoring from last season along with five of its six All-MAAC honorees, including all three selections to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
