Women’s Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

Canisius head women's soccer coach Ryan Louis announced the 2023 schedule on Tuesday, a 17-match slate that features nine home matches and eight road contests.

The Golden Griffins are scheduled to play seven non-conference contests and 10 league matches during the 2023 season.

The 2023 slate begins on Aug. 17 when Canisius welcomes in-state foe Colgate to the newly resurfaced Demske Sports Complex.

A road trip to Binghamton (Aug. 20) is next on the docket for the Griffs' after their season debut against the Raiders while a home matchup with Detroit Mercy (Aug. 24) and a road contest against Youngstown State (Aug. 27) follow thereafter. Canisius wraps up the month of August at home with a derby match against crosstown rival Buffalo (Aug. 31).

September gets underway on the Demske turf with a contest versus Little Three rival St. Bonaventure (Sept. 6). Conference play kicks off for the Griffs with a visit to Saint Peter's (Sept. 9).

Canisius will close out its non-conference slate with a road contest at Division I newcomer Le Moyne (Sept. 13) before turning its focus back to league play when it welcomes Manhattan to town (Sept. 16). A road match at defending league champion Quinnipiac (Sept. 23) and a home contest versus Iona (Sept. 30) bring the month of September to a close.

A road matchup at Fairfield (Oct. 7) serves as the start of an October slate that also includes back-to-back home matches against Siena (Oct. 11) and Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 14). Road contests against Rider (Oct. 18) and Marist (Oct. 21) follow before Canisius completes its regular-season slate at home with a "Battle of the Bridge" matchup against longtime rival Niagara (Oct. 25).

The 2023 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship will feature six teams and begin on Oct. 29 with first-round action and continue Nov. 2 with the semifinals. The championship final will be played on Nov. 5, with the winner of that match receiving the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

All three rounds of the MAAC Championship will be played at on-campus locations.
