Chu Captures Third MAAC Rookie of the Week Honor

Canisius women's lacrosse freshman goalie Jody Chu earned TicketSmarter Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season and her fifth weekly award this season, the league office announced Monday.

Chu is the first Golden Griffins to win four-or-more weekly awards in a single season since Erica Evans captured four during the 2017 season.

Chu totaled 11 points and eight ground balls during the Griffs 2-0 week. Against Robert Morris, the South Riding, Va., native made five saves and notched five ground balls in the Griffs, 12-5 victory. Against Youngstown State on March 19, Chu made six saves while picking up three ground balls during Canisius', 15-3, win over the Penguins.

The Blue and Gold are back in action on March 25 as they welcome Manhattan to the Demske Sports Complex for their first MAAC game of the season. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m.
