Weltin Nets First Career Goal in Draw at St. Bonaventure

Sophomore forward Madeline Weltin scored her first collegiate goal as Canisius played to a 1-1 draw against Little Three rival St. Bonaventure in collegiate women's soccer action Wednesday at the Marra Athletics Complex in Olean, N.Y.

Weltin got the Golden Griffins (1-2-3) on the board in the 33rd minute when she used her right foot to place freshman Mia Iacona's cross into the bottom right-hand corner of the net from 10 yards out to give Canisius a 1-0 lead.

The Bonnies (2-0-5) leveled the score at 1-all a little more than eight minutes later as Napoli was able to redirect a Hannah Walker corner kick into the Canisius goal from close range.

In the second half, Canisius out-shot St. Bonaventure by an 11-5 margin in the second half, but were unable to get one past Bonnies keeper Chiara Gottinger, who finished with nine saves.

Junior Jessica Jones got the start in goal for the Griffs. She finished the contest with five saves, four of which came in the second half.
