Women’s Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw at Colgate

Sophomore keeper Jordan Spencer recorded her first career shutout to pace Canisius in a 0-0 draw versus Colgate in collegiate women's soccer action Sunday at Beyer-Small a'76 Field in Hamilton, N.Y.

Spencer made one save to help the Golden Griffins (1-2-2) earn their second draw of the campaign. Grace Poncsak recorded five saves between the pipes for the Raiders (0-3-2).

Despite out-shooting Colgate by a 10-3 in the first half, Canisius was unable to get one past Poncsak, keeping the game scoreless at the break.

In the second half, Colgate had the best chance to get on the scoreboard in the 62nd minute when it was awarded a penalty kick opportunity after it drew a foul in the box. The Raiders were unable to convert, however, as Ally Giovino sent her attempt wide of the goal.

Spencer was able to keep the game tied in the final minutes of play, turning aside a shot from Cara Schmidlein in the 87th minute for her lone save of the contest.
