Women’s Soccer Records 0-0 Draw at Niagara

Junior Jessica Jones and sophomore Jordan Spencer combined to make three saves to pace Canisius in a 0-0 draw at Niagara in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's soccer action Wednesday at Niagara Field in Lewiston, N.Y.

Spencer got the start in goal for the Golden Griffins (3-3-4, 1-1-1 MAAC) and made one stop before being replaced by Jones at the halftime break. Jones made a pair of saves in the second half, highlighted by a diving effort on an attempt from Emma Bough in the 68th minute.

Felicia Grufman made five save in goal for the Purple Eagles (4-5-1, 1-1-1 MAAC).

Canisius registered its best chance of the contest in the 37th minute when junior Tiani Fonoti broke free of the Niagara defense and unleashed a shot towards the lower right-hand corner of the Purple Eagles' net. Grufman was up the challenge, however, reaching out and deflecting the shot out of play to keep the game scoreless.

In the second half, Canisius able to generate four shot attempts, but they were unable to find the back of the net as Grufman recorded three saves, including a pair of diving stops on attempts from the foot of sophomore Emma Oliphant.
