Women’s Soccer Sees Unbeaten Streak Halted by Quinnipiac

Rebecca Cooke scored the lone goal of the contest and Sofia Lospinoso made three saves to pace Quinnipiac in a 1-0 victory over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's soccer action Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex

Cooke tallied her league-leading 10th goal of the campaign while Lospinoso posted her second shutout of the season as the Bobcats (6-1-1, 2-0-0 MAAC) extended their unbeaten streak to five games.

Sophomore Jordan Spencer made two saves in goal for the Golden Griffins (3-3-3, 1-1-0 MAAC), who had their own four-game unbeaten streak halted with the setback.

Cooke notched the lone goal of the contest in the 14th minute, corralling a pass from Paige LaBerge at the top of the box before playing the ball around a Canisius defender and chipping it over an oncoming Spencer to give the Bobcats the lead.

Canisius' best chance to get on the scoreboard came in the 50th minute, as sophomore Emma Oliphant unleashed a shot from the top of the box that forced Lospinoso to make a diving save to keep the ball out of the net.
