Five Things to Know: Softball to Face Iona in Semifinal

1. First Pitch
The top-seeded Canisius softball team will face No. 6 seed Iona Friday in the winners bracket of the 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Softball Championship at the Demske Sports Complex.

First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and the contest will be broadcasted on ESPN+.

2. Win No. 1
Canisius defeated Marist, 5-2, Thursday in its first game of the MAAC Championship. The Griffs' used a four-run first inning to pace the victory. Sophomore Megan Giese tossed seven innings in the circle, earning her 12th victory of the season and 15th complete game.

Giese is currently tied with Andrea Bunten (2004) and Erika Mackie (2015) for the 16th-most complete games in a season in program history.

3. Wins Against All 10
With the victory over Marist, Canisius has earned a win against every team in the MAAC for the second consecutive season.

Prior to the 2021 campaign, the Griffs last took a victory against every team in the MAAC in 2010, when there were nine teams in the league.
