Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men’s Lacrosse Defeated by Robert Morris

Robert Morris jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as it posted a 23-6 victory over Canisius in collegiate men's lacrosse action
Wednesday at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon Township, Pa.

Corson Kealey tallied four goals and added an assist to pace a potent Colonials (2-3) attack that established a season high for goals. Taggart Clark chipped in four goals while Will Johansen also had a four-point afternoon with one goal and three assists.

Redshirt freshman Colin Kelly posted season highs with five goals and six points for the Golden Griffins (1-6). Sophomore Keegan Kozack accounted for the other Canisius goal.

Robert Morris never trailed in the contest, racing out to an early 7-0 lead in the game's opening nine minutes.

Holding a 9-2 lead at the start of the second quarter, the Colonials continued to maintain control as they scored eight of the nine goals recorded in the frame to take a 17-3 lead into the locker room.

Canisius was able to slow down the RMU attack in the third as Kelly registered the lone goal of the frame.

The fourth quarter saw the Colonials return to form as they used a trio of two-goal spurts to counteract a pair of tallies from Kelly to cruise to victory.

Head Coach Mark Miyashita's Postgame Comments
"We came out with a poor attitude and a poor effort in first quarter and that set the tone for the rest of the game. It was refreshing to see that in the third quarter, we were able to come out and actually execute the original game plan, along with resetting ourselves, both mentally and physically. But it was obviously too late in terms of the score. We have to do some deep soul searching here to get ourselves right, both as individuals and as a group, knowing that we've got conference play starting next week.

"We cannot be content with competing in some games or for part of games. We have to be consistent in everything we do and it starts with our daily habits and practicing. That's what we'll get back to and focus on here heading into tomorrow as we start preparations for conference play.
