Kelly Tabbed MAAC Rookie of the Week

Canisius attackman Colin Kelly has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Kelly, a native of Syracuse, N.Y., tallied four points in the Griffs season-opening contest at Hobart on Feb. 12. He recorded a pair of goals, including his first collegiate tally, in the first half before adding a goal and an assist in the second half.

Kelly is the first Canisius rookie to record a hat trick in the team's first contest of the season since Adam Jones scored three goals in the Griffs' 2008 debut at Princeton.

Canisius (0-1) returns to action Saturday with a noon contest at Bellarmine. The contest will air live on ESPN3.
