Game Notes: Canisius | Hobart

1) Opening Faceoff
The Canisius men's lacrosse team opens the 2022 season Saturday with a noon contest against regional foe Hobart at the Poole Sports Dome in Geneva, N.Y.

With the game being held in indoors, capacity will be limited. Tickets are not available to the general public.

2) Series Notes
Saturday's game marks the 22nd meeting between Canisius and Hobart. The Statesmen have dominated the series since its inception, holding a 20-1 edge in the all-time series. The Griffs' only victory over Hobart came in an 8-7 overtime triumph at home in 2010. Saturday's contest marks the 17th time in the last 18 seasons the two programs have met on the field after not playing each other during the 2021 campaign.

3) Buck Nearing Century Mark for Career Points
Senior attackman Jacob Buck begins the 2022 season needing just eight points to reach the 100-point milestone for his career. The Rochester, N.Y., native has been consistent throughout his collegiate career, averaging nearly three points per game (2.97). Buck will become just the 23rd player in program history to reach the century mark in career points.

4) A Rough Ride for the Opposition
Canisius' opponents had a tough time getting established in the Griffs end of the field in 2021 as Canisius ranked first in the MAAC and second nationally in opponent clearing percentage (.789). Each of Canisius' 10 opponents in 2021 were charged with three or more failed clears.

5) Brown Returns to Hobart
Hobart fans will see a familiar face on the Canisius sidelines as former Statesmen standout Frank Brown makes his return to Geneva on Saturday. Brown starred for four seasons at Hobart (2013-17), racking up 81 goals and 39 assists for 120 points in 57 career games played. As a senior, Brown garnered USILA All-America honorable mention and NEC Player of the Year accolades after recording a career-high 50 points (32g, 18a) during his final season with the Statesmen.
