Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Records 0-0 Tie at Siena

The Canisius women's soccer team played to its third straight scoreless draw as it tied Siena, 0-0, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action Wednesday at Hickey Field in Loudonville, N.Y.
 
Junior keeper Jessica Jones made four saves to record her second straight shutout for the Golden Griffins (3-3-6, 1-1-3 MAAC). Angela Fini made six savesin goal for the host Saints (1-7-4, 0-2-2 MAAC).
 
Despite out-shooting Siena by a 17-9 margin for the contest, including a 10-2 advantage in the second half, Canisius was unable to get on the scoreboard.  
 
The Griffs best chance of the first half came off the foot of sophomore Emma Oliphant in the 40th minute when she ripped a shot from just outside the box that found the left post and stayed out.
 
In the second half, sophomore Sophia Konstantinou authored Canisius' best chance to get on the board when she hit the crossbar from the right edge of the box in the 72nd minute.
 
Game Notes
• Wednesday's matchup between Canisius and Siena marked the 34th all-time meeting between the two Empire State rivals. The tie was just the second draw in the all-time series between the two programs.
• Canisius attempted six of the 10 corner kicks awarded in the contest.
• Oliphant led all players with five shot attempts and three shots on goal.
• Six of Canisius' 11 starters played the full 90 minutes on Wednesday.
• Canisius recorded 15 or more shots for the third time this season with its 17 shot attempts Wednesday (18 at St. Bonaventure; 23 vs. Rider).
 
Up Next
Canisius returns to action Saturday when it hosts Saint Peter's in a 1 p.m. matinee at the Demske Sports Complex. The contest will serve as the program's Senior Day, with the team honoring seven student-athletes for their contributions to the program in a ceremony prior to the start of the contest.
