Manhattan Spoils Men’s Soccer Senior Day

The visiting Manhattan Jaspers scored two goals in the span of 3:23 to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 3-1 victory in MAAC men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex.

With the win, Manhattan stretched its unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1) and improved its record to 7-4-4 overall and 5-1-2 in league play. The Golden Griffins slipped to 1-8-6 overall and 0-5-3 in conference action with the defeat.

In the game's 23rd minute, Manhattan's Harry Bark put the visiting team on top 1-0 after he was able to redirect a pass from teammate Gunner Studenhofft past Canisius keeper William Howard. Manhattan's Vladimir Lee was also credited with an assist on the Jaspers' first goal, as he sent the initial pass into the box to Studenhofft.

The score would remain 1-0 until the 57th minute, when Canisius freshman Tarek El-Zammar scored his first career goal on a penalty kick to even the tally at 1-1. In the contest's 69th minute, Manhattan took the lead for good after Ronaldo Da Silva took a pass in the box from teammate Henry Hamilton for his fourth goal of the season. Moments later, Canisius was whistled for a foul in the box, setting up a penalty-kick goal for Hamilton that made the score 3-1 in favor of the Jaspers.
