Five Things to Know
1. Griffs Return Home  
The Golden Griffins return home to the Koessler Athletic Center this Friday for a doubleheader versus Duquesne and West Virginia, as part of the Western New York Invitational, co-hosted by Canisius and UB. Canisius closes out the weekend Saturday evening, traveling to cross town rival Buffalo. 

2. Series History
The Blue and Gold trail in the all-time series against all three of this weekend's opponents. The Griffs trail Duquesne 2-5 all-time, with the most recent matchup in 2017. Canisius and West Virginia have met on three occasions, with the Mountaineers claiming all three showdowns. In the Battle of Main Street, Buffalo leads the series over Canisius, 7-58-2. 

3. Last Time Out  
Canisius traveled to Philadelphia, Pa., over Labor Day Weekend to play in the Sheraton City University Volleyball Invitational, hosted by Penn. The Blue and Gold fell to Coppin State, before dropping contests to Penn and Bucknell Saturday. 

4. Dole's Weekend in Philly
Freshman setter Avery Dole stuffed the stat sheet last weekend at the Sheraton City University Volleyball Invitational. The Summerfield, N.C., native averaged 8.5 assists per set, including a 32-assist performance versus the host Quakers. The performance was the most assists for a freshman Griff since the 2016 season, when Cassidy Ceriani recorded 32 versus Manhattan (11/13/16).

5. Looking Ahead   
This weekend provides the last non-conference tune-up for Canisius before beginning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play next weekend. The Griffs open up league play versus Siena (Sept. 18) and Marist (Sept. 19), inside the Koessler Athletic Center.
