Women’s Soccer Falls to Marist

Chance Hendricks' goal in the 23rd minute paced Marist to a 1-0 victory over Canisius Wednesday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's soccer action at Tenney Stadium in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

With the win, the Red Foxes climbed to 3-2-2 (2-0-1 MAAC) on the season while the Golden Griffins slipped to 0-7-2 (0-3-0 MAAC).

The lone goal of the contest came at the 22:52 mark of the contest after Marist was awarded a corner kick.
Autumn Smith drove the corner into the box, where Hendricks played the ball in mid-air, tipping it off a Canisius defender and into the back of the net.

The Griffs had their best chance to tie the match in the 79th minute. Sophomore
Emma Oliphant took an awarded free kick from just outside the box, striking the ball towards the top of the net, but Marist goalkeeper Natalie Kelchner deflected the ball over the crossbar to keep the Blue and Gold off the scoreboard.
