Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Drops MAAC Match at Rider

Rider used a pair of second-half goals to defeat Canisius, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's soccer action from Ben Cohen Turf Field in Lawrenceville, N.J.

The host Broncs earned their first conference victory of season as they moved to 3-5-2 (1-2-0 MAAC). Canisius slipped to 0-9-2 (0-4-0 MAAC) on the season.


Rider capitalized on a corner kick in the 47th minute of the match to open the scoring. 
Camryn Dees drove the ball into the box where a waiting Gabriela Garcia headed the ball into the right side of the goal, past Canisius goalkeeper Jessica Jones.

Rider later added a goal in the 70th minute of the contest from Makenzie Rodrigues.


Jones made four stops in the loss, as she made her seventh start of the year.

 
Game Notes
• Canisius outshot Rider, 15-12, in the contest
• Sophomore Tiani Fonoti's pair of shots on goal gives her 19 on the season
• Senior Maya Palmer has played the full 90 in four of her six appearances this season.
