Five Things to Know
1. Griffs Open MAAC Play
The Golden Griffins continue their three-week homestand this Saturday and Sunday, as Canisius opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. The Blue and Gold welcome Siena on Saturday afternoon, before entertaining Marist Sunday to close out the weekend.

2. Series History
The Griffs trail Siena 18-35 all-time, with the most recent matchup this past spring. Canisius defeated Siena twice on March 7 inside the Koessler Athletic Center, to begin the 2020-21 campaign. The Blue and Gold lead the all-time matchup with Marist, 22-18. The last time the two programs met was back in 2019, when Canisius defeated the Red Foxes in five sets.

3. Last Time Out
Canisius co-hosted the Western New York Invitational last weekend. On  Friday, Canisius was defeated by Duquesne and West Virginia in straight sets. The Blue and Gold traveled to crosstown rival Buffalo last Saturday, where the Griffs were clipped by Buffalo in three sets.

4. Zaucha Named to WNY Invitational All-Tournament Team
Freshman outside hitter Kara Zaucha was named to the 2021 Western New York Invitational All-Tournament Team last weekend for her efforts. The Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, native led Canisius with a team-best 12 kills Saturday against Buffalo.

5. Preseason Polls
The Blue and Gold were picked third in the MAAC Preseason poll, voted on by the conference's 10 head coaches. Defending regular-season champion Fairfield was selected first with 95 points (six first-place votes), followed by defending conference tournament champion Rider with 87 points (two first-place votes), and Canisius with 74 points (one first-place vote).
