Chipman Earns Share of Little Three Golf Title

Canisius graduate student Jaret Chipman earned a share of the 67th Little Three Championship individual medalist honors, and the Golden Griffins finished in second as a team in the tournament, which held Thursday afternoon at Niagara Falls Country Club in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

GRIFFS LINEUP
Chipman posted a one-over par score of 71 on Thursday and ended up sharing the tournament individual medalist honors with Niagara's Lincoln Cizek. Chipman and Cizek went on to play a sudden-death playoff to earn the Little Three Championship's automatic qualifier into the 2021 Porter Cup. After both players were even through the first playoff, Cizek won the Porter Cup qualifier on the second playoff hole. Chipman is the first Canisius golfer to finish first at the Little Three Championship since teammate David Hanes won the tournament outright in 2016, and this year marked the first playoff for the Porter Cup since Canisius' Hunter Sagar defeated teammate Andrew Romano in a tournament-record fourth playoff hole.

Hanes placed sixth in the field for Canisius with his four-over par score of 74, while sophomore Shane Broad recorded his second career top-10 finish in the last week as he tied for ninth after carding a 76. Junior Mike Donner shot 78 and placed 13th in the field.

TEAM LEADERBOARD
The St. Bonaventure Bonnies secured their fifth-straight Little Three Championship team honor after they scored a team-total of 296, three strokes in front of Canisius. Niagara placed third with a team-score of 304.

NEXT ON THE TEE
Canisius will close out the 2021 spring season when the team travels south to take part in the MAAC Golf Championships April 23-25, Once again, this year's conference championship event will be held at the Magnolia Course at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
