After two scoreless innings of play, Canisius was able to get on the board first when sophomore Sarah Cantley hit a single into left center with the bases loaded to bring senior Sue Vi across home plate.

The Griffs extended the lead in the top of the fourth. With one out on the board, freshman Sydney Costan and seniors Morgan Altman and Lindsi Dennis recorded three consecutive singles. After Dennis brought Costan home, runners remained on second and third for senior Erin Hufford's two-run single, which made it a 4-0 contest.

Siena had no intention of going away, however, scoring four runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. With two more innings of scoreless softball, the two teams were forced into extra innings.

The eighth inning was uneventful for both teams, who each only managed one hit.

With two outs in the top of the ninth, senior Kara Paradowski found herself in the position to score an unearned run on an error by the Saints' shortstop, giving Canisius a 5-4 lead.

With two outs and two runners on for Siena, sophomore Emma McLaughlin hit a walk-off double to win the game for the Saints.

Game two started quickly in the Golden Griffin's favor. Out of the gate, Hufford singled up the middle. The speedy senior was able to advance to third off of Paradowski's follow up single. With two runners on, Altman committed her first sacrifice bunt of the season, scoring Hufford to make it 1-0.

Siena was quick to answer with four runs in the bottom of the second with the assistance of an error at second for the Griffs and two bases-loaded situations.

The Griffs answered with three runs of their own in the top of the fith to tie the game at 4-4 as Paradowski brought home the first two runs of the frame on a triple into left center before tying the game one play later on a wild pitch.

The excitement did not last long, with Siena's Antonia Alba hitting a two-RBI triple of her own in the bottom of the fifth to help the Saints retake the lead, 6-4.

Canisius would threaten in the top of the sixth, putting two runners aboard with one out. Siena would keep the Griffs of the board however, retiring the next two batters to end the inning.
