Five Things to Know
1. Ready to Roll
The Canisius volleyball team returns to action Sunday,  after having a 470 day hiatus, due to the ongoing-pandemic. Canisius' last contest was November 23, 2019, when the Griffs fell to Quinnipiac in five sets, at the 2019 MAAC Tournament semifinals. 

2. New Year, New Coach
Canisius announced the hiring of head coach Shannon Thompson on July 23, 2020. Thompson arrives on Main Street after previous stops with Campbell, William & Mary, and UMass-Boston. 

3. Preseason Poll
The Blue & Gold were picked fifth in the MAAC Coaches' Preseason Poll, the conference announced in February. Defending MAAC Tournament champion Fairfield was picked first with 99 points, followed by Quinnipiac (80), Rider (77), Marist (69)  and Canisius (66). 

4. Camila Tabbed All-MAAC
Junior middle hitter Camila Vazquez was named to the 2020-21 Preseason All-MAAC Team this spring. Vazquez led the league with a .385 hitting percentage during her sophomore campaign, and was tabbed an All-MAAC Second teamer for her efforts. 

5. Back for Year Two 
Sophomores Bree Long and Ella Loussia return for their second year as Golden Griffins, following their successful rookie seasons for Canisius. Both Long and Loussia were named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team following the 2019 campaign.
