Five Things to Know: Volleyball Starts Final Week at Niagara

1) Opening Serve
The Canisius volleyball team starts the final week of the 2021 regular season Tuesday night when the Golden Griffins travel north to play at long-time rival Niagara. Match time is set for 6 p.m., at the Gallagher Center. These two teams met at the Koessler Athletic Center just six days ago, where the Blue and Gold posted a 3-1 win to extend their win streak to four straight.
 
2) Series Notes
Canisius has played more matches against Niagara (107) than any other opponent in program history. The Griffs lead the all-time series, which dates back to 1975, 55-50-2. Canisius' 3-1 win at home Nov. 4 extended the Griffs' win streak over their long-time rival to three straight, dating back to last season.

3) Griffs Are Hitting and Blocking
Canisius enters the final week of the regular season ranked second in the MAAC in both team attack percentage and blocks per set. The Griffs' team attack percentage of .203 trails only Fairfield (.261), and the team's 2.04 blocks per set ranks the Blue and Gold 170th nationally.
 
3) Kekeisen Doing It All
Senior Ashley Kekeisen was good for four kills, 41 assists and a career-high 24 digs in Canisius' 3-1 win over Niagara last week. In the team's current four-match win streak, the St. Louis, Mo., native is averaging 8.1 assists per set, and she enters Tuesday's match at Niagara 35 assists shy reaching 1,000 assists for her career.
 
5) Up Next
Canisius will close out the final weekend of the regular season Nov. 13-14 with a pair of MAAC road matches at Rider and Saint Peter's. The Griffs' will start their weekend road trip in New Jersey on Saturday against the Broncs, with game time set for 1 p.m.
