FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Opening Tip
Canisius plays the middle game of its three-game Empire State road trip to open the 2021-22 season Saturday as the Griffs travel to Binghamton for a matchup against the Bearcats. Tipoff is slated for noon from the Dr. Bai Lee Court at Events Center.

2. Series History
Canisius and Binghamton will meet for the ninth time Saturday. The Griffs lead the all-time series, 6-2, and have won each of the last four matchups.

Saturday is the first time the Bearcats are hosting Canisius since a Nov. 19, 2013 meeting that featured the Griffs coming away with a 66-53 victory.

3. I Remember Buffalo
Senior guard Erika Joseph established a career high in points (13) in Tuesday's loss at Buffalo. She bested her previous career high of 11, set in the 2020-21 season-opener, a home loss, also to the Bulls. Both of Joseph's double-digit point totals have come against Buffalo.

4. We've Been Everywhere
After concluding the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season on a four-game road trip, the Griffs open 2021-22 campaign on a three-game road swing inside the Empire State.

Canisius' seven consecutive road games away from the Koessler Athletic Center is tied for the ninth-longest road trip in program history. It is the longest streak of consecutive games away from home since playing eight straight road or neutral site contests spanning the 2008-09 (last three games) and 2009-10 (first five games) campaigns.

Once the Griffs return home for its home opener next Saturday (Nov. 20), it will mark the first home game in nearly a full calendar year (349 days), when it hosted crosstown rival Buffalo to open the 2020-21 season on Dec. 6, 2020. The return home will also be the first time the Griffs are playing in front of fans in 623 days, since a March 7, 2020 game against Quinnipiac.

5. Familiar with the America East
Saturday's contest marks the first of two games this season against a team playing in the America East. Canisius will later travel to UAlbany for a game in mid-December.

Over the last four seasons, it will be the third time the Griffs will square off against multiple America East teams in non-conference action. The previous two instances featured Canisius dueling UAlbany and Vermont in both 2018 and 2019.
