Five Things to Know
1. Griffs Look to Keep It Rolling on the Road
The Canisius volleyball team continues its four-match MAAC road swing Oct. 9-10, with a pair of league contests at Marist (Oct. 9) and Siena (Oct. 10). The Golden Griffins swept a pair of MAAC matches on the road last weekend, posting a 3-2 comeback win at Iona, before making short-work of Manhattan with a 3-0 sweep. Those two road wins for the Griffs stand as the team's first victories away from the Koessler Athletic Center this season.

2. Series History
The Griffs and Red Foxes will be meeting for the 42nd time in series history and for the second time this year. Canisius leads the series over Marist by a 23-18 count, and the Griffs enter this weekend's action having posted four-straight wins over the Red Foxes.

The match at Siena will be the 55th all-time meeting between the two long-time rivals. Canisius' win over Siena at home back on Sept. 18 was the Blue and Gold's third-straight win over Siena, dating back to last spring. The Griffs have not won at Siena since the 2018 campaign.

3. Zaucha Has a Banner Weekend
Freshman Kara Zaucha was named the MAAC's Rookie of the Week on Tuesday after she averaged 3.13 kills per set in eight sets last week at Iona and Manhattan. In the win over Iona, the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, native was good for 10 kills, and then she posted a season-high 15 kills in the win over Manhattan on Sunday, with seven of those coming in the second set. For the week, Zaucha hit .375 and also racked up eight block assists, with five of those coming in the victory over Iona.

4. Long is the Week's Top Libero
Junior Bree Long was honored as the MAAC's Libero of the Week on Tuesday after she averaged 4.0 digs and 1.13 assists per set last week in the two Canisius victories. In the 3-2 comeback win at Iona Oct. 1, the Temperance, Mich., native recorded a match-high 22 digs to go with five assists. The 22-dig effort in the win over the Gaels marked the fourth time this season where Long has recorded 20-plus digs in a match. Long starts this weekend averaging 4.73 digs per set, which ranks second-best in the MAAC.

5. Looking Ahead
Canisius returns home for a pair of MAAC matches against Saint Peter's and Rider. The match against Saint Peter's is set for Oct. 16 and the Griffs will host Rider Oct. 17. Both contests will start at noon.
