Lapid, Farman Named Student-Athletes of the Month for September

Hockey senior Lee Lapid and women's swimming and diving senior Morgan Farman have been named Canisius Student-Athletes of the Month for September.

Lee Lapid - Hockey
Lapid appeared in all 17 contests for the Blue and Gold a year ago. The Thornhill, Ontario, native ranked fourth on the team's scoring chart with 10 points on five goals and five assists. Lapid led the Blue and Gold with five power-play points during the 2020-21 campaign. A three-time AHCA All-American Scholar and AHA All-Academic Team pick, Lapid is studying health and wellness at the College.

Morgan Farman - Swimming and Diving
Farman competed in one meet for the Griffs during the pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season. She finished third in the 200-yard backstroke in her lone meet versus Binghamton and Niagara on March 13. The Livonia, N.Y., native has been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team twice in her career. Farman is studying special education on Main Street.

The Canisius athletic department saw 19 of its 20 varsity programs post a team grade point average of 3.0 or better during the 2021 spring session. Fifteen teams posted a team GPA of 3.25 or higher, while the school's 381 student-athletes combined to post a department grade point average of 3.429 for the term

The most recent semester saw 58 student-athletes earn a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Those 58 student-athletes were part of a group of 308 Canisius student-athletes to record a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, representing 81.0 percent of the College's student-athlete population.
