1) Opening Serve
The Canisius volleyball team will open its final homestand of the 2021 season this weekend with a pair of MAAC matches against Manhattan and Iona. Both contests will be broadcast live on ESPN3, and both contests are set to start at noon. The Golden Griffins are 3-2 in their last five matches, dating back to Oct. 10, highlighted by last Sunday's come-from-behind 3-2 road win at league-leading Fairfield.

2) Series Notes
Canisius leads the all-time series with Manhattan by a 32-17 count. Including the Griffs' 3-0 road win in Riverdale, N.Y., back on Oct. 3, the Blue and Gold enter Saturday's contest riding a seven-match win streak over the Jaspers, with five of those victories coming by the score of 3-0.

Canisius and Iona will be meeting for the 51st time in series history when the Gaels come to the Koessler Athletic Center on Halloween. The Griffs lead the series 27-23, which includes the team's 3-2 road win over the Gaels back on Oct. 2 in New Rochelle, N.Y.

3) Senior Day Set for Saturday
Prior to the start of Saturday's match against Manhattan, Canisius will honor seven seniors for their contributions to the program. Seniors Callie Chamulak, Ashley Kekeisen, Rachel Kinney, Giulia La Longa, Hannah Nelson, Joli Ruby and Camila Vazquez have been a part of 48 overall wins and 40 MAAC regular-season victories, and this group has played in two MAAC Championship final matches. The pregame ceremony on Saturday is scheduled to begin at 11:40 a.m.

4) Not Afraid to Fight Fairfield
Dating back to the 2018 season, Fairfield's volleyball program boasts an impressive 40-5 record in regular season league play. But even more impressive is the fact that three of those five losses have been dealt to the Stags by Canisius, after the Griffs stormed back to defeat Fairfield 3-2 on the road last Sunday. Included in that stretch is Canisius' 3-2 win over Fairfield in Buffalo back on Nov. 16, 2019. That victory for the Blue and Gold stopped Fairfield's 19-MAAC win streak, the longest league win streak in MAAC volleyball history.

5) Up Next
Canisius will officially close out the 2021 home schedule on Thursday, Nov. 4, when the Golden Griffins play host to long-time rival Niagara in the first match of a home-and-home series with the Purple Eagles. Match time on Nov. 4 is set for 6 p.m. Canisius will then travel north to close out the regular-season series at Niagara Nov. 9 in Lewiston, N.Y.
