FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
1. Opening Serve
The Canisius volleyball team travels to the state of Connecticut for a pair of weekend Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matches at Quinnipiac and Fairfield. The Golden Griffins will begin the weekend in Hamden, Conn., for a 1 p.m. match against the Bobcats before facing MAAC-leading Fairfield on Sunday at 1 p.m.

2. Series History
Canisius will be closing the regular-season series against both Quinnipiac and Fairfield this weekend as the Griffs hosted these two teams in Buffalo back on Sept. 25-26. Canisius and Quinnipiac will be meeting for the 24th time in series history - a series the Griffs lead 16-7 all-time. On Sunday, Canisius will look to score its second win at Fairfield in its last three trips to play the Stags on their home court. All-time, Fairfield leads the series, 33-15, but Canisius has earned wins over Fairfield in three of the last five meetings, dating back to 2018.

3. Hitting on a High Percentage
Entering the weekend, Canisius is one of three teams in the MAAC to have multiple players rank among the league's top-10 in hitting percentage, with the list consisting of players with at least three attacks per set, on average. Senior Camila Vazquez, who leads the league in attack percentage at .393, ranks 35th nationally in the category, while junior Ella Loussia ranks eighth in the MAAC with her .272 attack percentage.

4. Diggin' It
Junior libero Bree Long collected 45 digs over the weekend, giving her a career total of 1,157 digs, which allowed her to pass former Griff Christina Wildes for sixth-all time in Griffs' history. The Temperance, Mich., native ranks second in the MAAC and 52nd in the nation in digs per set at 4.66 per outing.

5. Up Next
Canisius will return to Buffalo, N.Y., for its final three home matches of the fall campaign. The Griffs host Manhattan Oct. 30 before playing Iona on Halloween, with both matches slated to begin at noon from the Koessler Athletic Center. Prior to the contest against Manhattan, Canisius will celebrate Senior Day, honoring the Class of 2022.

The Blue and Gold will have its final home match of the season on Nov. 4, when the team plays host to Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara at 6 p.m.
