1) Opening Serve
After two weeks on the road, Canisius returns to the friendly confines of the Koessler Athletic Center this weekend as it entertains Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rivals Saint Peter's and Rider. The Golden Griffins open the weekend versus the Peacocks on Saturday before squaring off against the Broncs on Sunday. Start time for both matches is scheduled for noon.

2) Series Notes
Canisius has dominated the all-time series against Saint Peters, boasting an all-time record of 35-14 against the Peacocks. Since the start of the 2011 season, the Griffs have won 18 of 19 meetings against Saint Peters, with the lone loss in that stretch coming in a road match during the 2018 season.

Canisius has also enjoyed considerable success against Rider, having won 30 of the previous 43 contests between the two programs. The Broncs have held the edge in recent matchups, having won two of the last three meetings and 9-of-14 contests since the start of the 2014 campaign.

3) MAAC Championship Rematch
Sunday's match versus Rider serves as a rematch of the championship match of 2020-21 MAAC Volleyball Championship, played last April at the Albany Capital Center. The Broncs were victorious in the that contest, posting a 3-1 victory over the Griffs to claim the crown and earn the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

4) Becoming More Consistent on the Attack
Canisius has been converting on the attack at a more proficient rate during conference play as the Griffs are hitting .239 as a team through its first eight league matches. That total is a marked improvement from the .155 attack clip the team posted during its nine non-conference matches this season. In league play, the Griffs have turned in a hitting percentage of .200 or higher on seven occasions, highlighted by a season-best .327 attack conversion rate in a 3-0 victory at Manhattan on Oct. 3.

5) Up Next
Canisius returns to the road next weekend for a pair of MAAC matches against Quinnipiac and Fairfield. The Griffs begin their visit to the Nutmeg State with an Oct. 23 contest against the Bobcats before closing out the trip with a match against the Stags the next day. Start time for both matches is slated for 1 p.m.
