Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Pushes Winning Streak to Four Games

Freshman Lexi Perry's first collegiate goal gave the Golden Griffins a 1-0 victory over Delaware State Wednesday evening at the Demske Sports Complex. With the win, Canisius moves to 5-2-0 on the season while the Hornets fell to 0-9-0 in 2019.

Perry scored the deciding goal for the Griffs in the 56th minute off of a scrum in front of the goal after Shauna Lee dealt the ball on the goal line. Canisius outshot Delaware State 12-4 for the contest.

Canisius senior goalkeeper Alana Rossi made four saves in the contest to earn her fourth consecutive clean sheet. With this shutout effort, the Canisius defense has not allowed a goal in 397:01 minutes. Delaware State goalkeepers Franchesska Ramirez and Fabrea McCray made a combined two saves in the loss.

Head Coach Todd Clark Postgame Comments
"You always divide the season up into three parts, the non-conference schedule, the conference schedule, and, if you get lucky, the postseason. We got the first part of that to go in our favor, and we are happy with the results that we have seen this season."

Game Notes
• Canisius leads the all-time series with Delaware State, 4-1-0.
• The Griffs' current four-game win streak is the program's longest since 2010.
• Canisius is now 4-0-0 at home, where the team has not allowed a goal. This is the best start to the home schedule for the Blue and Gold since 2017.
