McArthur Named to U19 Canadian National Team

Rising sophomore Skylar McArthur has been named to the final roster for the Canadian National Team heading into the 2019 Women's Lacrosse U19 World Championship in Peterborough, Ontario, as announced by the Canadian Lacrosse Association.

McArthur will represent Canada alongside Canisius head coach Allison Daleywho will serve as Canada's associate head coach for the World Championship.

"This is a great opportunity to have the Golden Griffins represented on another U19 World Championship team," noted Daley. Canisius has had student-athletes represent Team Canada since 2003 at the U19 World Championships, which helps show the type of lacrosse players that have come through this program.

"We have seen a significant increase in Skylar's development through the Canadian tryout process. She will only continue to get better as she plays with and against some of the top talent in the country. We are looking forward to seeing Skylar compete this summer as Canada seeks to defend their World Title."

McArthur appeared in 13 games for the Golden Griffins during her freshman season, scoring her lone goal of the campaign during the regular-season finale against Binghamton. McArthur finished the season with six ground balls and four caused turnovers.

The 2019 Women's Lacrosse U19 World Championship takes place August 1-10, in McArthur and Daley's hometown of Peterborough, Ontario. Canada will look to win consecutive World Championships after defeating the United States in the Gold Medal Game in 2015.
