Men’s Lacrosse to Support Pediatric Cancer Awareness Versus Marist

The Canisius men's lacrosse team will be doing its part to help in the fight against pediatric cancer when it hosts Marist in its regular-season finale at the Demske Sports Complex on April 26.

In their nationally-televised game against the Red Foxes on ESPNU, the Golden Griffins will wear a special pediatric cancer awareness ribbon on their helmets.

The team will also be wearing special shooting shirts for the contest that will also be available for purchase for $20. All proceeds from the T-shirt sale will go to Vs. Cancer, a nonprofit fundraising campaign under the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation that is dedicated to saving kids' lives by empowering athletes and communities to fund lifesaving childhood cancer efforts.

"We are delighted to work with Vs. Cancer to help raise awareness for pediatric cancer during our regular-season finale against Marist," Canisius head coach Mark Miyashita said. "Cancer affects everyone of us. To have the opportunity to show our support for this worthwhile cause while playing on national television is something that we are grateful for and cannot wait to be a part of."

Shooting shirts will be available in both navy and silver colors with men's and women's adult sizes ranging from small to extra-large. Those interested in purchasing a shirt can contact assistant coach Kris Alleyne at alleynek@canisius.edu. The shirts will also be on sale at the game.

Canisius (8-5, 4-1 MAAC) returns to action Friday with a 4:30 p.m. league contest at Manhattan.
