Riley Brager stopped six in the cage while allowing just six goals. Monmouth recorded 39 shots, won 19 of the games 24 draw controls and caused 12 turnovers en route to the win.

Sophomore's Marissa Malvaso and Miranda Malvaso both tallied two goals, while freshman Megan Hoffman and Katie Smolensky accounted for the other two goals in the loss. Sophomore goalie Lauren Gilbert made 13 saves in the cage for the Golden Griffins (1-13, 1-5 MAAC).

The Hawks got contributions from Mills, Turturro and Bleck to jump out to a 5-0 lead before Smolensky and Hoffman scored on back-to-back Canisius possessions to make the score 5-2.

Monmouth regained control for the remainder of the half, breaking off a 4-0 run with goals from Sarah Gillogy, Nicole Ceraso and Bleck in the final nine minutes of the stanza to take a commanding 9-2 lead into the break.

After Monmouth scored the first tally of the second, Marissa Malvaso scored two goals for the Griffs, the latter of which came on a pass from transfer Rachel Heidenreich that Malvaso then deposited upper-90 to put the Griffs down six, 10-4.

Monmouth's Bleck went back-to-back herself to increase the Hawks lead to 12-4 with just over ten minutes left in the contest.  Four minutes later, Marissa Malvaso found her sister Miranda Malvaso in front of the net for Canisius fifth tally.
