Game Recap
A big second half helped Manhattan defeat Canisius 53-33 in MAAC women's basketball action Saturday afternoon. Both teams finish the season 11-18 overall and 9-9 in MAAC play. Canisius will be the five seed in the upcoming league championship March 7-11.

Manhattan was led by Julie Hoier's 14 points on 7-for-14 shooting, while Kania Pollack added 10 points in the win. Forward Courtney Warley snagged 11 rebounds to add to her league leading average. The Jaspers offense got going in the second half, outscoring the Griffs 17-4 in the third quarter and 18-11 in the fourth. After the Griffs tied the game 18-18, the Jaspers went on 17-2 to give Manhattan a commanding 35-20 lead with 2:50 left in the third.

Canisius would get the Jaspers lead down to 11, 35-24 when Welch made a second-chance layup opportunity with 9:35 on the clock in the fourth. That's as close as Canisius would get as Manhattan doubled up the Griffs in the remiander of the fourth, 18-9, to win the game 53-33.

Head Coach Scott Hemer's Postgame Comments
"When you struggle to make open shots like we did today, it is difficult to win on the road. We are certainly disappointed that we couldn't grind out one more win, but hopefully they'll figure out what they want to accomplish in post-season play and go after it with determination."
