Five Things to Know - Women's Basketball Plays Regular-Season Finale at Manhattan

GAME 29
Canisius (9-17, 7-8 MAAC) at Manhattan (10-18, 8-9 MAAC)
Date: Saturday, March 2
Time: 2 p.m.
Location: Draddy Gymnasium | Riverdale, N.Y.
Broadcast: Jaspers Sports Network
Live Stats: Through GoJaspers.com
Series History: Canisius leads, 35-26

1.    Controlling Its Destiny
• Canisius enters Saturday with sole possession of fourth place in the MAAC at 9-8. The easiest way the Golden Griffins lock in the four seed for the MAAC Tournament is with a win. However, they can still get the four seed if Manhattan comes out on top Saturday, and Niagara, Monmouth, Fairfield, and Siena all lose.

2.    Close Games
• Canisius is 3-3 in games decided by five-or-less points, including a win in its first matchup with Manhattan this season, a 47-44 victory back on Jan. 3. The Blue and Gold have come out on top in each of its last three games that have been decided by five points. In conference, Canisius is 2-0 in such games.

3.    First and Last
• Canisius opened its MAAC slate against Manhattan back on Jan. 3, coming out victorious, 47-44, on what was the Griffs annual Kids Day. Junior D'Jhai Patterson-Ricks scored a team-best 17 points, followed by senior Sara Hinriksdottir with 16 points. Sophomore Danielle Sanderlin corralled 13 rebounds.

4.    Struggles Away from the KAC
• The Griffs are 4-9 in road games this season, including a 3-5 MAAC road record this season. The struggles continue at Draddy Gymnasium as Canisius is 12-15 all-time against the Jaspers on the road and if you include neutral site games versus Manhattan, the Griffs are just 13-19.

5.    Sanderlin Comes Up Clutch
• The Canisius sophomore scored the Griffs final six points on Wednesday, including the game-winner with 17.3 seconds left in the contest. The forward got the ball just inside the 3-point line, made a move and pulled up just outside the paint, sinking the bucket with a hand in her face to give Canisius the 52-51 win.
