Jake Hardy
Internship - Black Lab Sports
Location – Boulder, Colo.
Hardy on his experience: "I was a project intern with Black Lab Sports (BLS), a venture capitalist fund that invests and mentor's various start-up companies as well as fully-independent companies such as iSplack, TrueCoach, Scratch Labs, Can-Ice Synthetic Ice, Onyx, and more so. I also initiated TrueCoach's customer appreciation campaign by building filters and algorithms to find their top customers. These customers then received care packages with TrueCoach gear to extend that extra touch as a company and show their commitment to their customer relationships.
For Folwell Studios I designed, developed, and published two iMessage apps (sticker packs) onto the App Store that allow users to send and receive original artwork by Gail Folwell through the Messages app on iOS devices.
Through this experience I gained knowledge about the start-up process from BLS leaders and by talking with many founders on their career and how they started their respective companies.
I was also able to gain mentorship about my computer science educational path as well as possible career paths. I was able to shadow lead front-end developers and also increase my self-awareness and self-knowledge through BLS' Thinker+Doer model. |
