Women's Soccer Falls to Fairfield

Despite multiple chances, the Canisius women's soccer team was unable to score in a 1-0 loss against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Fairfield Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex.

The only goal of the game was produced by Brooke Jones at the 23:32 mark after she received a pass from Gabby Diodati and played the ball into the upper-right corner of the goal.

The Golden Griffins' (6-5-0, 1-3-0 MAAC) best chance to get on the scoreboard came in the 82nd minute, when freshman Lexi Perry got behind the Stags (6-3-2, 3-0-0 MAAC) defense, but both her initial shot and her rebound attempt were turned aside by Fairfield keeper Gena Pike.

Senior goalkeeper Alana Rossi made seven saves in the loss for Canisius. Pike made two saves to earn her fifth career shutout between the pipes for Fairfield.

The Stags out-shot the Griffs ,17-6, and led Canisius, 8-2, in shots on goal.
