Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Second Half Goals Push Siena Past Women's Soccer

Two second-half goals by Jayanna Monds and Darby D'Angelo pushed Siena past the Canisius women's soccer team as the Saints defeated the Golden Griffins, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon at Siena Field in Loudonville, N.Y.
 
The win moves the Saints to 3-6-3 (1-1-1 MAAC) on the season while the Griffs fall to 6-4 (1-2 MAAC) with the loss.
 
The Blue and Gold took the lead into the intermission when senior Margretta Dry took a feed from junior Shauna Leeto score on Canisius' first shot of the game in the 32nd minute, as fellow junior Magdalen Canitia also tallied an assist on the goal. Siena's Darby D'Angelo knotted the game at 1-1 in the 70th minute before Jayanna Monds broke the tie six minutes later.
 
Senior goalkeeper Alana Rossi made eight saves in goal on 18 shots faced, while Siena keeper Taylor Dorado made one save en route to the win.
 
Head Coach Todd Clark's Postgame Comments
"Our ladies played their hearts out today against an always strong Siena team. We had our chances to score a bit more but also dodged some bullets as any team does in a close game. We will travel home, catch our breath and get ready for Saturday."
 
Game Notes

• Wednesday's game marked 18th meeting between the Saints and the Griffs.

• Siena leads the series 13-4-1.
• Lee now leads the team with three assists on the season.

• The Blue and Gold return home on Saturday to face Fairfield. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex.
