Softball Drops a pair at Jacksonville

The Canisius softball team dropped a pair on Saturday, as the team fell to both UT-Arlington and the host Jacksonville Dolphins in the Jacksonville Spring Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. The Golden Griffins lost the first game by the score of 5-0 before falling 5-1 in nightcap. Canisius is now 1-7 on the season.

In the first game on Saturday, UT-Arlington held a 2-0 lead through four innings and then scored three times in the fifth inning to win 5-0. Canisius had just one hit in the loss, as freshman Kara Paradowski was the only Griff to record a base knock in the losing effort. Senior Erika Mackie took the loss for Griffs after she threw 5 innings with one strikeout and two walks.

In the second game against Jacksonville, Canisius trailed the host Dolphins 5-0 in the top of the seventh, but an RBI-single off the bat of senior Moriah Harris cut the Dolphins' lead to 5-1.
 
Lauren Castro took the loss for Canisius after she allowed three runs on six hits to go with four walks in 3.1 innings. Freshman Emily Nicosia entered the circle for 2.2 innings allowing just two runs.
