Softball Falls to Providence on Final Day in Jacksonville

Box Score Providences' Emma Lee drove in the only run of the game, in the top of the third, as the Friars defeated Canisius 1-0, Sunday morning on the final day of the Jacksonville Spring Tournament in Jacksonville, Florida. The win moves Providence to 3-7 on the season, while the Golden Griffins fell to 1-8 with their fourth-straight loss.

Lee put the Friars ahead 1-0 in the third with an RBI-double to left center in the top half of the inning. The Golden Griffins would place runners on base later on in the sixth and then again in the seventh, but the Blue and Gold was unable to push the tying run across. Canisius left a total of four runners on base in the contest.

Canisius had just three hits in the loss. Freshman pitcher Emily Nicosia took the loss in the circle for the Griffs, after she allowed one run on two hits in five innings of work.
