The offense began to push back in the latter half of the frame, as Allie Stewart and Jourdan Roemer combined for three goals in the final 14 minutes of the opening period and the Wildcats went to the break up 10-4.

Northwestern controlled the second half as well, outscoring Canisius 8-3 the rest of the way.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH DALEY
"It was certainly a disappointing loss," head coach Allison Daley said. "I think some of the errors were on us as a program. That's something as we move forward we can fix, we have control over those. Our team has a long week of practice coming up and that's what we're going to do, use this as a long learning opportunity.

I liked our level of competition when things got tough, they battled and fought hard and that's something I was happy to see. We asked them to compete and fight til the end and that's what they did."

GAME NOTES
• With the loss Canisius is now 0-2 against Northwestern all-time.
• VanLaeken matched a program record set by new head coach Allison Daley, making 20 saves in the game.
• Reininger set a new career-best for draw controls with four in the contest.
