Head Coach Scott Hemer's Postgame Comments
"Although we are disappointed we cannot get on the bus with a win, considering we played well for the majority of the game. I did think it was the hardest the team played both mentally and physically in a number of games, they understood what we were trying to do, and they executed it, holding a team that shoots extremely well from the perimeter to just 23 percent. I thought defensively, we did everything we wanted, except for limiting Akron's second chance opportunities."

Game Notes
• Sunday afternoons game was the seventh meeting between Akron and Canisius. The Zips have now won five of seven.
• Welch's 12 points is a season-high for the Erie, Pa., native.
• Irby recorded three assists for the second straight game, improving her season total to a career-high mark of nine.
• Patterson-Ricks scored double-digits for the fifth time this season.
• Hinirksdottir's eight rebounds marked the 29th time she had seven or more boards in a game.
