Mearns Accepts Position at St. Bonaventure

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Canisius Director of Athletics Bill Maher confirmed today that Randy Mearns, head coach of the Canisius men's lacrosse program, has resigned after 19 years at the helm of the Golden Griffins to accept the same position at St. Bonaventure University.

"Randy has been a part of the Canisius lacrosse program since 1989, serving as our head coach for the last 19 seasons," Maher said. "His history in our program is unmatched, and we appreciate his contributions in helping us build the program to where it is today. While we are disappointed that Randy is leaving Canisius, we wish him well in the next step of his career.

"The search for our next head coach will begin immediately, and Canisius remains committed to the
continued growth of our men's lacrosse program that will compete for conference championships."

Canisius assistant men's lacrosse coach Brendan Murphy will serve as the program's interim head coach during the search process.
