Women's basketball takes on Bowling Green on Sunday, looking to start a winning-streak after defeating St. Bonaventure for the second-straight year in a row. Here are some notes leading up to Sunday's contest:


QUICK HITTERS
• The Golden Griffins continue its season on Sunday as the squad travels to Bowling Green, Ohio for its third-ever meeting with he Falcons. Game time is set for 2 p.m. 
• The Griffs earned their first win of the season, as the Blue and Gold downed the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 71-69 in overtime at the KAC, Wednesday. 
• In the contest, the freshman played big part in the win as Anndea Zeigler hit a late free throw to knot the game up and force overtime (61-61) and an Olivia Vernon layup, lifted the Griffs to a 71-69 win. 
• Maria Welch led the team in the game, notching 18 points, while three other Griffs scored double figures. Sara Hinriksdottir (15), Margret Halfdanardottir (12) and Olivia Vernon (12). 
• Hinriksdottir has really a force both on offense and on defense, posting double-digit point averages with a 13.0 mark, and averages 10.5 rebounds per contest.  
• Against the Bonnies, Hinriksdottir recorded her second career double-double, notching 15 points and 13 rebounds. 
• Canisius finished 2016-17 with a 10-21 overall record and an 8-12 conference mark. 
• In the MAAC tournament the Blue and Gold bested rival Niagara in the first round, while coming up short in an upset bid against Quinnipiac in the quarterfinals. 
• The Golden Griffins return five of its top-six scorers from a season ago, with Hinriksdottir leading the pack. 
• Hinriksdottir posted the 15th best single-season point average in program history last season, tallying 14.6 points per game and a rebounding mark of 5.8, also leading the team.
• So far Canisius seems like a more tenacious team in the paint, having not lost the battle of the glass this season. 
• The Blue and Gold had an equal amount of rebounds against Colgate (42) and outrebounded St. Bonaventure with 47 boards last game. The team is averaging 44.5 per contest. 

SERIES HISTORY VS. BOWLING GREEN
• The Griffs and Falcons have had a short history between the two programs.
• Bowling Green has won both of the two previous meetings, coming in 2009 and 2010. 
• In the first meeting, the Griffs lost to Bowling Green, 67-42.
• The Falcons won the rematch in 2010, winning at Bowling Green, Ohio, by the biggest margin of the two contests, 82-59. 

BOWLING GREEN SCOUT
• The Falcons have started the season with a 3-0 record for the second time in three years, and just the eighth time in the history of the program.
• Two BGSU assistant coaches are quite familiar with Canisius coach Terry Zeh and the Golden Griffin program. Jacey Brooks, in her fifth season with the Falcons, came to BG after spending the previous three seasons on Zeh's staff. Additionally, Brooks earned her Master's degree in Sport Administration from Canisius in 2012.
• On Tuesday (Nov. 14), junior Carly Santoro was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced. Santoro earned the honor for the first time this season and the second time in her BGSU career.
• Senior Haley Puk and the Falcons broke out to an early lead, and BGSU withstood a furious comeback effort by host Robert Morris Thursday morning (Nov. 16). BG picked up a 64-62 win in overtime in non-conference action at the North Athletic Complex.
