Game Recap: Volleyball |

Despite Third Set Comeback, Volleyball Falls to Rider, 3-1

Canisius volleyball was able to rebound from an 0-2 deficit in the third set, defeating Rider, 25-20, however the momentum didn't carry over, as the Broncs defeated the Golden Griffins, 3-1 (25-22, 25-20, 20-25, 25-16), at the Koessler Athletic Center. With the loss Canisius dropped to 7-14, and 5-6 in MAAC play, while Rider improved to 13-11 and 7-5 in conference action.

Despite narrowing the Rider advantage, Rider used a 12-1 run, midway through the fourth set, to stake claim to a 20-9 lead, and distance itself from the Griffs, winning the frame 25-16 to take the match 3-1.

Claire Leonard paced the offense with 15 kills, while Sara Wesley and Andrea Diaz Lopez also were a force on offense, tallying nine each.

Rider had a trio of players notch double-digit kills, as Hailey Riede notched 15, Jennifer Borio had 12 and Perry Williams tallied 11.

Cassidy Ceriani quarterbacked the offense and tallied 42 assists, while Sofia Lopez Acosta posted 22 digs to lead the team.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH VAZQUEZ
"We consistently at this point are not being as offensive as we could be," head coach Lenika Vazquez said. "At times there is fear to make an error, and that fear is stronger than our will to win. So at this point we need to be stronger mentally so that we can finish more balls."
