Taylor Giglio Drafted by Boston Storm

The Boston Storm of the United Women's Lacrosse League drafted former Canisius women's lacrosse standout, Taylor Giglio '16, on Saturday, in the league's annual draft. Giglio was a key member of the Golden Griffins, helping the squad to two MAAC titles during her tenure.

"I'm very excited for Taylor," Canisius head coach Scott Teeter said. "I'm thrilled that she will be able to continue her playing career in the UWLX. She meant so much to our program and I'm sure she'll be a steady contributor for the Storm. This is tremendous exposure for our program, as she continues the trend of the many Canisius alumni doing great things post graduation."

Giglio concluded her Canisius career having played and started in 58 games as a member of the Blue and Gold, scoring 131 goals, 53 assists for 184 points. She was a three-time All-MAAC selection, earning first team honors in 2016, and second-team accolades in 2015 and 2014.

Always a prime competitor when it came to tournament time, Giglio capped all three of her years at Canisius with All-Tournament honors.

The United Women's Lacrosse League gives the world's best female lacrosse players the opportunity to stay in the game and play post-collegiate, professional lacrosse. The summer league features four teams in Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia and Long Island. The league season begins in May and runs through July.
