Syracuse Sweeps Softball

The Canisius softball team saw its losing skid move to four straight with a pair of losses at Syracuse Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Griffins lost the first game 4-0 before falling to the host Orange 22-1 in five innings. Canisius is now 9-24 on the year, while Syracuse moved to 21-17 with the pair of wins.

In the first game, Syracuse hit three solo home runs en route to the 4-0 victory. Canisius had five hits in the loss and ended up leaving four runners on base.

In the nightcap, Syracuse scored six runs in the second, eight in the third and seven more in the fourth as the Orange rolled the Griffs. Canisius scored its lone run of the day in the top-half of the second on a solo homer to left center by sophomore Moriah Harris. Syracuse banged out 14 hits and took advantage of six Canisius errors, five of which came in the home-half of the fourth.

Canisius will return to MAAC play this weekend with a pair of league doubleheaders at the Demske Sports Complex. The Blue and Gold will start their weekend homestand Saturday, April 16 when the team hosts Fairfield. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
