Defender Alex De Carolis of the Canisius College men's soccer team will continue his career in Sweden, recently signing a contract to join Nora BK.
De Carolis appeared in 70 career games with the Griffs during his collegiate tenure, totaling 27 points, eight goals and 11 assists. The Sarnia, Ontario native posted a career-best 10 points as a senior with two goals and six assists.
“We are very excited for Alex as he moves on to the next chapter of his career,” said Canisius head coach Dermot McGrane. “I think he has all the necessary tools to be successful on the professional level and I'm looking forward to following him during his career.”
De Carolis was a key member of one of the most successful periods in the program's history. He played in 31 wins for the Griffs – more than any other player in school history – and also helped contribute to the team's record-setting defense in 2014. As a junior, Canisius established new standards for goals against average (0.84), fewest goals allowed (16) and shutouts (eight).
