To commemorate the Canisius College men's soccer team's 50th Anniversary, the program announced an All-Canisius XI First and Second Team on Tuesday.

“It's exciting to be celebrating our program's 50th anniversary,” said Canisius head coach Dermot McGrane. “I constantly remind our team that they are in this fortunate position because of all the hard work that was put in by the past players that paved the way for them now. We will always be indebted to our alumni for all the hard work they put into this soccer program and I can't wait to celebrate that this weekend.”

Named to the All-Canisius XI First Team are forwards Tony Burke, Gianfranco Gallo, Alan McGreal and Asani Samuels, midfielders Gavin Falconer, Matt Kiechle and Ryan Puntiri, defenders Fabien Lewis, Tony Mermigas and Joe Rivera and goaltender Andrew Coughlin.

Included on the All-Canisius XI Second Team are forwards Remy Jackson, Charlie Williams and Paul Zach, midfielders Tommaso Occhiuto, Matt Radomski and Matt Tyczka, defenders Ashley Anthony, Tom Garigen and Ainsley Romany and goaltenders John Ford and Tom Rocca.

Each team consists of three forwards, three midfielders, three defenders, one goalkeeper and one wild card selection. The 22 players were selected by a committee through a nomination process, available statistics, honors received at Canisius and discussion with past members of the program.

The teams are set to be honored during the program's 50th Anniversary celebration during homecoming weekend at Canisius. Each member will be formally honored during halftime of the Griffs' MAAC opener against Monmouth. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex and will be aired live on ESPN3. The team will also hold an Alumni Game at 5 p.m.
