The Golden Griffins women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Old Dominion Sunday afternoon in their second game of the season.
The Griffs (1-1-0) kept the contest close in the first half, not allowing a goal until the 30 minute mark.
Entering halftime, Old Dominion held onto its 1-0 lead while controlling the shot count 9-3. Canisius led in corner kicks entering the half however, by a 2-1 margin.
A late second half goal in the 82nd minute by Madison Hogan ended the Griffs hopes for a comeback, as they trailed 3-0.
Senior goalkeeper Kailee Defranks recorded a career high nine saves in net for Canisius, while Erin Kinz finished with four stops for Old Dominion.
Game Notes: Freshman Ronja Gustafsson led the Griffs with 2 shots in the match.
The Griffs are back in action on Tuesday, as they open at home against St. Bonaventure at 7 p.m. at the Demske Sports Complex.
