The Canisius College women's lacrosse team recorded their first MAAC victory, as the team defeated the Quinnipiac Bobcats 17-7, behind senior Tori Quinn's record-setting day. The win, was the third of the season for the Griffs, improving them to 3-5, and 1-0 in the MAAC on the season and the loss drops Quinnipiac to 1-7, and 0-1 in conference play.
After recording seven points on four goals and three assists, Quinn became the all-time leader in points for Canisius with 206, beating her sister's previous record of 203. The senior netted the record-setting goal with 27:32 left in the game, putting the Griffs up 10-3.
Besides Quinn, two other Griffs scored four goals as Meghan Cuddy and Taylor Giglio each found the back of the net four times. Junior Ashley Bull was the other Griff to score multiple goals in the game, scoring three of her own. Freshmen Lauren Smolensky and Allie Stewart also recorded a goal each to cap off the Griffs 17 goals.
Defensively Nicole Nelson had two ground balls and three draw controls and Bull had seven draw controls and three caused turnovers for the Blue and Gold.
The Griffs out-performed the Bobcats in almost every statistcal category as the team out-shot the MAAC foe 31-15, had 15 ground balls to the Bobcats 11 and had 18 draw controls compared to Quinnipiac's 8.
Canisius was also 10-11 on clears, including a perfect 5-5 in the first half and the Griffs were 2-3 on free-position shots in the second and 3-7 overall compared to 0-3 for the Bobcats.
Senior Kayla Scully got her second start in a row for the team, making five saves in her second victory of the season.
